This 8,500-square-foot San Francisco office called for a lighting strategy that could reinforce the firm’s identity as ‘dynamic, adaptive, and forward-looking’ while framing sweeping views of the city and bay. The resulting design solution prioritized an open, uninterrupted ceiling plane, letting the space’s natural materials and structural character read clearly without visual clutter from mounted hardware.

Because the ceiling was left intentionally exposed, the lighting plan couldn’t rely on fixtures requiring remote or ceiling-mounted drivers.  The  4″ Cylinder (formerly M Series Cylinder) was selected to solve for that directly: its driver is embedded fully within the fixture body, so nothing needs to sit above the ceiling plane. Fixtures were placed primarily across the open office and shared spaces, including the kitchen, the lobby, and other collaborative areas, where that self-contained construction let the cylinders hang cleanly against the exposed structure as a deliberate design element rather than an afterthought.

The 4″ Cylinder’s modular design also suited the pace of a tenant improvement project like this one.  Because each cylinder is built as a single, self-contained unit based on stocked 4″ modules and components in our Southern California factory, lead times stayed short and installation stayed simple, aligning well with the quick turnaround schedules that build-to-suit and tenant fit-out projects typically demand.  The result is a workspace that feels rooted in enduring materials while staying tuned to what comes next.

The 4″ Cylinder is a family of self-contained fixtures designed to minimize the bulk and extra hardware that so often clutters exposed ceilings and vertical surfaces.  On this project, a run of white 4″ Pendant Mount Cylinders hang on a run on a simple, field-cuttable cord suspension, dropping cleanly against the office’s raw textured ceiling.  Each fixture delivers a clean, even 1500 lumens, enough to anchor general illumination across the floor while keeping its silhouette quiet and unobtrusive.  The effect reads as part of the architecture rather than something on top of it.

The 4″ Cylinder family extends well beyond this configuration. Pendant, Wall, and Surface Mount versions are all available across 4″, 8″, and 12″ extrusions, with uplight, downlight, and adjustable options, along with a range of additional trims and shades, so the same clean language can flex to fit almost any architectural condition.
