AEC Professionals Honor C Series

C Series named Top Building Product by BD+C

A distinguished jury of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) professionals, alongside the editors of Building Design + Construction (BD+C), has recognized DMF Lighting’s C Series as one of the industry’s top building products in the publication’s annual 75 Top Building Products report.

Celebrating the “best of the best” in new and enhanced building solutions for 2025, the C Series stood out as the only recessed downlighting system honored among the six lighting luminaires selected — an achievement that underscores its innovation and impact within the category.

Winners were chosen by a panel of 11 practicing AEC professionals and three BD+C editors. Eligible entries, which are open to product manufacturers serving the U.S. and Canadian commercial, institutional, industrial and multifamily building markets, were evaluated against rigorous criteria, including:

  • Overall benefit to potential project teams— Solve a critical challenge, streamline installation, enhance design flexibility or accelerate construction timelines
  • Usefulness to clients, owners and developers— Performance, durability, aesthetics, return on investment and maintenance considerations
  • Impact on building occupants— Contributions to health, wellness, safety and productivity
  • Product category innovation— Represents a first-of-its-kind advancement or meaningfully elevates its category

DMF’s C Series 4- and 6-inch commercial downlights are engineered for exceptional flexibility and long-term performance, featuring a modular, tool-less, plug-and-play design that seamlessly integrates the housing, LED light engine module and trim. With drivers embedded directly within the modules, maintenance and upgrades are completed entirely from below the ceiling — eliminating the need to tear out the ceiling and significantly reducing labor time and cost.

Each module includes a field-adjustable lumen switch (1000, 1500 or 2000 lumens), enabling a single SKU to accommodate varying ceiling heights across a project, streamlining specification and delivering measurable savings. An integrated emergency bypass port supports both standard and emergency housings, simplifying installation while minimizing compatibility concerns.

Designed with project efficiency in mind, the modular system allows housings and modules to ship separately. Contractors can install housings early in the construction cycle — before final lighting selections are finalized — reducing on-site storage demands and helping keep projects on schedule without compromise.

The C Series’ selection reflects its measurable benefits across design, construction and lifecycle performance — affirming its position as a leading solution in today’s commercial lighting landscape.

The C Series is showcased in BD+C’s November/December issue and on the magazine’s website (#23).
