AEC Professionals Honor C Series

C Series named Top Building Product by BD+C

A distinguished jury of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) professionals, alongside the editors of Building Design + Construction (BD+C), has recognized DMF Lighting’s C Series as one of the industry’s top building products in the publication’s annual 75 Top Building Products report.

Celebrating the “best of the best” in new and enhanced building solutions for 2025, the C Series stood out as the only recessed downlighting system honored among the six lighting luminaires selected — an achievement that underscores its innovation and impact within the category.

Winners were chosen by a panel of 11 practicing AEC professionals and three BD+C editors. Eligible entries, which are open to product manufacturers serving the U.S. and Canadian commercial, institutional, industrial and multifamily building markets, were evaluated against rigorous criteria, including:

  • Overall benefit to potential project teams— Solve a critical challenge, streamline installation, enhance design flexibility or accelerate construction timelines
  • Usefulness to clients, owners and developers— Performance, durability, aesthetics, return on investment and maintenance considerations
  • Impact on building occupants— Contributions to health, wellness, safety and productivity
  • Product category innovation— Represents a first-of-its-kind advancement or meaningfully elevates its category

DMF’s C Series 4- and 6-inch commercial downlights are engineered for exceptional flexibility and long-term performance, featuring a modular, tool-less, plug-and-play design that seamlessly integrates the housing, LED light engine module and trim. With drivers embedded directly within the modules, maintenance and upgrades are completed entirely from below the ceiling — eliminating the need to tear out the ceiling and significantly reducing labor time and cost.

Each module includes a field-adjustable lumen switch (1000, 1500 or 2000 lumens), enabling a single SKU to accommodate varying ceiling heights across a project, streamlining specification and delivering measurable savings. An integrated emergency bypass port supports both standard and emergency housings, simplifying installation while minimizing compatibility concerns.

Designed with project efficiency in mind, the modular system allows housings and modules to ship separately. Contractors can install housings early in the construction cycle — before final lighting selections are finalized — reducing on-site storage demands and helping keep projects on schedule without compromise.

The C Series’ selection reflects its measurable benefits across design, construction and lifecycle performance — affirming its position as a leading solution in today’s commercial lighting landscape.

The C Series is showcased in BD+C’s November/December issue and on the magazine’s website (#23).

True 1 Earns Distinction as an EdisonReport Top 10 MUST SEE Product at LEDucation 2026

True 1 Redefines Precision Illumination with Ultra-Compact Performance and Modular Flexibility

DMF Lighting True 1 recessed downlight shown in exploded view with housing, module, and accessories

EdisonReport has unveiled its Top 10 MUST SEE Products for LEDucation 2026, a distinguished selection that captures the very best in lighting innovation today.

Following a rigorous evaluation process, an esteemed panel of judges identified DMF’s True 1 as a standout product that embodies ingenuity, design excellence and forward-thinking performance that no attendee should overlook.

This year’s independent panel — Charles Stone of Fisher Marantz Stone, Lisa Reed of Reed Burkett Lighting Design and Nayoun Ryu of Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design Inc. — brought a discerning eye to the selection, curating a group of 10 products that reflect the industry’s most compelling advancements in the industry.

Delivering more than 1,000 lumens with exceptional glare control, the True 1 downlight —defined by its precise 1-inch aperture — leverages an advanced three-stage optical system to achieve remarkable performance within an exceptionally compact form. The result is a refined and highly sophisticated lighting solution that sets a new benchmark for performance, adaptability, ease of installation and serviceability among small-aperture downlights on the market.

At the core of DMF’s latest modular evolution is a high-performance, interchangeable cartridge system, enabling seamless, on-site adjustments to both optics and correlated color temperature (CCT). By decoupling the light engine from the fixed architecture, the design advances DMF’s modular philosophy while ensuring precision aiming and enhanced flexibility during commissioning. Complementing this innovation is a fully serviceable DC-to-DC driver (DC regulator), accessible directly at the ceiling plane. This thoughtful configuration allows for maintenance, replacement or upgrades from below the ceiling — eliminating the need for disruptive access and significantly reducing long-term labor costs.

The True 1 is available in both Fixed and Adjustable configurations, with the Adjustable module offering 360-degree rotation and an industry-leading 35-degree lockable tilt for precise illumination control. A range of optical distributions (30-, 40-, and 50-degrees) provides designers with the versatility to tailor lighting to specific applications. Color temperature options span from 2400K to 4000K, including Warm Dim, all delivered at 93+ CRI to ensure exceptional color fidelity and visual comfort.

Every aspect of the True 1 is meticulously engineered to support the “quiet ceiling” aesthetic, prioritizing architectural clarity over visual distraction. Its specialized polycarbonate trim construction offers a seamless, lightweight integration that virtually disappears into the ceiling plane. In a deliberate departure from conventional multi-finish offerings, the fixture is available exclusively in a precision-tuned black finish to maximize glare absorption and minimizing visual presence, so the architecture remains the focus while the light itself recedes elegantly from view.

LEDucation will run April 14 and 15 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City. You can view True 1 at the DMF booth located in Americas Hall 1, booth 2402, 2404.
